This Sunday, December 10th, we will have our traditional Toy Drive Service, with the added extra of a children’s play.
During the service the children will perform a play, at the end of this we will collect new and gently used toys to give away.
The children have put together a very simple performance of the Drummer Boy Story. The main parts have been allocated but other children who want to join in can just come on the day and be part of the three kings’ gift bearing entourage! Come early and we’ll find them a costume, or let them wear their own suitably extravagant outfit!
Finally, we want to show the kids that the drummer boy could have come from anywhere in the world, because everywhere people like to play drums!
So if you have a drum from anywhere in the wide world, please bring it on the 10th, so we can show it during the service.“
Toys will be donated to a local women’s refuge and any extra will go to a project in Romania.
Carol Service fliers are available on Sunday – please take some and spread the word.
Volunteers for the Carol Service are being sought. Would you like to read a lesson? Speak to Eric – firstname.lastname@example.org.
Could you help with the refreshments after the service or taking the collection? Speak to Jackie – email@example.com
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, 14th December from 10 until 12 in the Anglican Centre. We have decided to meet a week earlier than usual (on the second Thursday not the third )so that we can affix the stickers to the new carol sheets stating that they belong to St. Catherine’s and shouldn’t be taken away. Thus we hope to avoid having to replenish our stocks of carol sheets each year. So although we will be busy there will be plenty of time for a chat and a cup of tea or coffee. Look forward to seeing you.
Frauen andere Herkunft, andere Sprachen – Women from other countries and speaking other languages
As every year we invite you to an Advent afternoon to meet up with women from other countries who unite to worship together in and around Stuttgart in their own languages, just like we do in our Anglican Church in English.
Our “Adventsfeier” will take place on Friday, 8th December 2017 from 16.00 until 18.00 in the CVJM-Haus, Room 100, Büchsenstraße 37, Stuttgart-Stadtmitte. We are asked to bring traditional cakes or biscuits to enjoy together.
Please let Alison know by 1st December if you would like to come.

Fliers for our Christmas Services are available in church. Please use them to invite your friends and family to join us in worship.
Poppy Appeal Thank you for such a wonderful collection for the poppy appeal again this year. I so wish I could travel to your church to see the fantastic effort you always put in for our military personnel! Please pass on thanks on behalf of the Poppy Appeal to everyone who has given so generously. It is always much appreciated by the veterans and dependents who receive assistance. Currently, the Poppy Appeal spends on average £1.7m per week on welfare. To me this is an unimaginable sum of money and I think it is sad that it is so urgently needed by so many. But it does show that valuable donations and efforts such as you have made in Germany are so essential. Next year will be a massive year of commemoration for the centenary of the end of WW1 and if anything comes up which I think you would be interested to know about, I’ll contact you by email to share.
With many many thanks
Susan – from the British Legion
