Ulm Mission
The English Church of Ulm
In the summer of 2008, a Canadian woman who teaches at the International School in Ulm raised the idea of starting an English language worship service in Ulm for anyone in the surrounding area who might be interested.
The idea was a good one, and steps have been taken to bring a congregation together. In October 2008, the Rev'd Kenneth Dimmick of St. Catherine's Anglican Church in Stuttgart agreed to travel to Ulm on various Sunday nights to lead such a service. It was seen as an experiment in Mission. Would there be enough interest? Could the people from various backgrounds and various denominations find a way to worship together? Where would the worship service take place?
These and other questions have been answered, temporarily, at least, by the offer of that same Canadian teacher. She spread the word about the worship services and opened her home as the place for them to be held. The first service had 7 people The second 13... and the 3rd 19! But there is still room for more. We meet for worship on Sunday evenings at 18:30... with activities for kids, music, and refreshments afterward with time to chat with each other.
With this encouragement, we look to the future with hope that a good ecumenically minded English language service can serve the Ulm area.
If you know someone else who would like to be part of an English language worship service, please invite them to come along and see for themselves.
If you live in the Ulm area and are interested participating in this venture contact Cathy Lynn Dresser or Father Ken Dimmick . They will be able to give you more information and details of where and when the services take place.
