From the Vicar:
Note: Next Sunday is Palm Sunday -.Don’t go to the church!
We will begin the worship on Sunday with the Blessing of the Palms, set to start punctually at 11:15…(Yes!!! we will start whether or not the Old Catholics are finished…) in the Anglican Centre, our office space in the corner shop just in front of the church’s main door, which will be tight, but cosy. We will hopefully need to be as squeezy as possible. Once the Palms are blessed and distributed, we will then process over to the church and into our pews, where we will sing the great Palm Sunday Hymn from the 4th century “All Glory, Laud, and Honour”. Use the link below to hear it being sung at Kings College in Cambridge.
Do you know it? It is one of the great treasures of liturgical hymnody. Once we have the readings, you will notice that the liturgy takes a decidedly different turn – toward the cross. No more talk of Palms, triumph, nor glory, unless you see the glory of God shining through the dark skies over Calvary as Christ is judged, condemned and crucified, his friends and mother helpless to do anything but stand by silently weeping in their anguish. Palm Sunday ends up with much less triumph and much more passion. But it serves to lead us into the Holy Week events which teach us about the Easter joy to come.
So that you can participate fully and devotedly in these ancient and beautiful rites, I have listed our full schedule of Holy Week liturgies below. Come, pray, watch, weep if you need to, and rejoice that what we see is but the sad lead-up to the happy end which is the Empty Tomb, and the even happier end of our and the world’s redemption.

All who are enrolled will be qualified to vote in the all-important election of Wardens and Parish Council at the AGM. The AGM will take place after the church service. We will first worship, then eat a quick little lunch – and the meeting… kept as short and simple as our parish life allows.
We will miss you Christoph, Tsega, and kids! Our parishioners of the Family Meyer, after living in Munich for some time, have received a great promotion which will take them to London, where his journalistic career will continue. We pray God’s blessing on them in this move to the “Holy Land” (Mother Britain) We can only hope that having an Oma and many Tanten and Onkel here in Stuttgart will mean that they will return often to visit them… and us!
Help Wanted! To make Easter even more festive, which this highest of feasts deserves, we have a tradition of a great Easter Feast, pot-luck style, after church is finished. And when possible, we like to include something special for the littlest of our members: an Easter Egg Hunt. I am looking for someone who is willing to be leader of these two “festivities”. So far there have been no volunteers. Anyone? Mail firstname.lastname@example.org
L.E.G.S – The Ladies Evening Group, Stuttgart, will have their next meeting on the evening of Monday 4th April – from 19:00 at Ha Long near Hölderlinplatz. Please e-mail email@example.com
The Parish Council will meet this Saturday mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
The Vicar will be away from Stuttgart From Easter Monday through Easter Wednesday… attending a meeting of the Bishop’s Strategic Planning Committee in Amsterdam.
