Maundy Thursday – Good Friday – your thoughts requested

Holy Week is a journey – it starts in triumph on Palm Sunday with the waiving of palms as Jesus enters Jerusalem. It moves through the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Trail, the Cross, the death of Jesus and ends with his glorious resurrection on Easter Day.
We are currently planning our Holy Week Schedule at St. Catherine’s and would like your thoughts on what to offer on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. How to capture this journey, the sorrow and despair – without which the Easter Joy has no contrast.

We don’t have access to church so will be meeting in the Anglican Centre.
Would you wish to attend something on one or both days? What time would suit you?
Would you wish to reflect on the passion and pray together – or discuss?
Would you want to take Communion? Would you want to wash each other’s feet?

Send your thoughts to holyweek@stcatherines-stuttgart.de

Weltgebetstag Logo World Day of Prayer, Friday 1st March 2024 at 19:00 (7.00 p.m.)
For the 2024 World Day of Prayer, Christians from Palestine prepared the liturgy for the WGT before the October 7, 2023 attack.
After the Hamas attack and the resulting warlike conflicts, the liturgy and the draft plaque were supplemented, rewritten, and partly replaced. The Liturgy is based on verses from Ephesians (Chapter 4, 1-7): full of courage, humility, kindness, and patience, and a hope that unity can succeed in mutual respect, respect, and love – held by the Bond of peace.
Christians from Palestine talk about their lives and we pray with them that what is humanly possible will be done across all borders for a just peace. May our prayers in this challenging, and depressing time help ensure that understanding, reconciliation, and peace have a chance, in Israel and Palestine, in the Middle East, Ukraine, and also here in Germany.
All: women, men, and children are invited to the service on Friday 1st March 2024 at 19:00 (7:00 p.m)
