Volunteers sought to help with German Classes
Our Deutschkurs on a Saturday afternoon in the Anglican Centre has now been running for over a year. Last year we had two tutors who prepares and delivered the sessions. This year one of these has stepped down due to other pressures on time.
Our remaining tutor is seeking volunteers to work with him to support our learners. He writes: “We have developed the idea that the lessons should become more “individualised”, which means that the students are steering their learning process themselves. The teachers help them to identify their deficits and learning needs and find the materials with which they can overcome that deficit. The teacher also answers questions the students may have in working with such materials.
In order to reach that level of individualisation, we the teachers, will have to prepare more materials than we have available now. But we will definitely make use of videos which are available in the net.
Within that concept the teachers should perceive themselves as “facilitators” of the individual learning paths of the students. They, in turn, have to take over more responsibility for their learning progress – also outside the lesson itself! The thrive to learn rests basically with the students.”
If you think you could help as a facilitator please speak to +Antonio. chaplain@stcatherines-stuttgart.de
