Notices for Advent Sunday – Bilingual Eucharist @10:00

There will be no Evensong on Friday 28th November
due to shortage of musicians – Evensong will resume in 2026

This Sunday @10:00

We welcome a new church year with our brethren from the Old Catholic congregation.
Advent Eucharist with Sunday School for 3-9 year olds, followed by refreshments hosted by our congregation in the Gemeindesaal.

Please note re heating in Church:
you will all be aware that it is now winter and pretty cold in church!
With the exception of  joint services, the Old Catholics have moved into the side room for winter. This is not possible for us because we would have to have our service after they have finished coffee.
The heating in Church is in the form of electric heaters under the pews. This is the most efficient way to heat as heating the air is not an option in such a large space. It is of course very energy intensive though, so we need to be mindful to be as efficient as possible to save both energy costs and carbon emissions.
Therefore please note the following:

  • The heating will be switched on approx. 10 minutes before the service starts, it takes a few minutes to heat up
  • Generally, for congregations of around 40 people, only the front pews on both sides of the Church will be heated. These pews will be marked with a label with a 🔥flame on!
  • The back pews will not generally be heated, unless we have a very big congregation. These pews are marked with a ❄️snowflake! Get to know some new people and join someone you maybe don’t know well in a pew at the front!
  • Of course it is warmer if you are sitting! So if you are feeling very cold, please feel free to sit for some parts of the service, where we usually stand

Please share the details of this year’s service of Lessons and Carols.
Saturday 13th December @17:00 in the Leonhardskirche. Invite your friends, family and neighbours to join us to celebrate the Christmas story in word and music.

If you would like to sing in our Scratch Choir please
e-mail scratchchoir@stcatherines-stuttgart.de and let us know what part you would like to sing. Rehearsal dates are now being planned.

News from Arbeitsgemeinschaft Christliche Kirchen in Stuttgart (ACK):
Invitation to Bilingual Carol Service – Wednesday 17th December

We pray
for Kathys Vesper – those who serve and those who are served
– for your church through out the world as we begin this period of Advent preparation, reflecting on Christ’s coming into the world as a baby and his promised return in Glory.
for those who fear the winter months
for Hong Kong, after the deadly fire in Tai Po where hundreds are still missing, and the death toll rising. Pray for the follow up works in the months to come and that God will heal the wounds in people’s souls, justice can come soon for those who are in fault of negligence or corruption.
