Lenten Pilgrimage from Rottenburg to Tübingen
The damp weather last Saturday in no way dampened the spirits of the six (later seven) pilgrims who set off on St Catherine’s Lenten Pilgrimage from Rottenburg to Tübingen. (click on the picture to see more)
Before leaving Rottenburg we paid a visit to the cathedral – the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese Rottenburg-Stuttgart.
With the Wurmlinger Kapelle before us and gentle rain drops accompanying, we walked part of the way through the countryside in contemplative silence. Our first stop was the Wurmlinger Kapelle St Remigius, burial chapel of the Graf of Calw, where a warden led us through more than a thousand years‘ history – the crypt of the chapel still being supported by the original pillars.
We did try the power of suggestion to imagine a warm picnic lunch – without success, but at least it was now dry, and warmed by hot tea and companionship we carried on cheerfully to Tübingen, enjoying a most welcome and well earned coffee stop on the way. On arrival at the station in Tübingen we congratulated ourselves on the 14 km accomplished and were most grateful for the deepening experience.
Prayers
We pray for the Archbishop of Canterbury as she prepares for her installation next week.
Almighty God,
you call your Church in every age
to proclaim the Gospel of Christ:
look with mercy upon your servant Sarah,
and grant that, as deacon, she may care for those in need,
as priest, sustain us with the ministry of word and sacrament,
and as bishop, guard the faith
and build up the body of Christ in holiness.
Give her wisdom and kindness
that as archbishop, she may promote unity, seek truth,
and lead us in the way of righteousness and peace;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
