Motto: “I made you wonderful.”
World Day of Prayer, formerly Women’s World Day of Prayer, (WDP/WGT), originated in 1887 when Mary Ellen Fairchild James, wife of Darwin Rush James, called for a day of prayer for home missions. The word “Women” was removed from the title in 1968.
In addition to prayer, women were encouraged to become aware of other countries and cultures and to sympathize with the problems of those countries and cultures.
Services are held annually on the first Friday in March in over 170 countries worldwide to observe a different country and theme.
In 2025 the Host country is the Cook Islands. It comprises 15 islands located between French Polynesia and American Samoa.
Its Motto: “I made you wonderful” is based on Psalm 139:14 “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Cook Islands are known for their beautiful beaches, warm weather, hospitality, and friendly culture.
To celebrate 2025 WDP/WGT and especially its preparations, St. Catherine’s Anglican Church invites you to join the Ecumenical Team of women from Leonard’s church, EV Reformiert, the Old Catholics/Katharina, and St. Catherine’s.
The initial preparation is scheduled for Monday, 20th January at 19.00 in St Catherine’s Parish Center OlgaStr. 56. Subsequent meetings will be scheduled at the first meeting.
We look forward to having you join the preparation meetings. Your input and cooperation will be appreciated.
Best regards, and best wishes for the New Year.
