we come to God in gratitude for all that has been good this year
we come to God in faith for all that remains unresolved and deeply disturbing
we come to God in solidarity with those unable to speak or to pray for themselves
we come to God with longing in our hearts –
longing for peace in our world peace in the hearts of friend and neighbour
we look to God who has heard our prayers in the past
we trust in God who has journeyed with us before
we seek the face of God and the blessing it promises
